Are we really Promoting Tourism?

Out of Habit, I was going through one of the leading newspaper of Maldives which also happen to be one of the most hit online newspaper of Maldives and apparently I came across an article/statement released by one of the party of Maldives known for its religious propaganda in its Manifesto.

The article was published out - as a reflection to the most recent controversial birthday celebration by anyone so far dated in the Maldives Tourism History. Estimates say that Philip Green spend around 6 Million Pounds (£) on this lavish party he organized in one of the resort of Maldives in which an all expense paid holiday for 200 close friends of Philip also joined in for 5 days with special items performed by the item Girl/Boys – Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and George Michael (unconfirmed reports saying that he charged around a whooping £750,000/- or more). The people who attended this party where not just ordinary friends, but some of the most famous and rich personalities engaged in fashion world, motor world and entertainment world.

The controversy started once after the people came to know about the two huge Idols of Buddha been erected in the resort where the party was held. It seems it went out of the religious view of the country and it was not allowed in the country. But I don’t know why people are making such a big fuss about this – If these people raise these as a way to get public vote or make awareness then they are just bluffing around.

1) Why is alcohol allowed to be imported into the resorts and why is it allowed to be sold in the hotels of the Island?
2) Why is alcohol allowed to be served by Maldivians? Why Maldivians are sent to foreign countries to be professional bartenders?
3) Why is Vulgar things shown in Public TV?
4) Why does Maldivians wear small dress and walk in the modern way?
5) Why is Christmas Day celebrated in every resort? Why is Valentine day Celebrated? Why is New year celebrated?
6) Why do you find dolls in the Shops and in kids hands? Aren’t those idols too?

These are just few factors I tried to find an answer, if they are so interested and hurt on religious basis. The funniest part about this episode I heard was that – the people of Baa Atoll who apparently build or reorganized this Idol for some huge money realized this only after they erected the idol and after they got the money and only after this came into the common man's knowledge. Sometimes I can understand that Islanders are not that intelligent but they are not this “Gaamaar” also.

If the above mentioned things are practiced in Maldives then I don’t find a reason why they should raise a voice and make a hue and cry over this. According to my understanding it was not to harm anybody feelings or to under estimate anyone’s view or country. My View of the whole thing after seeing the pictures was that, all they did was to go according to the theme of the Birthday party. Just like we (Maldivians) have Autumn, summer and some other themes for there parties, the big money people have high dreams of themes. I feel like it was more like made as in olden days, mystical tombs with dried flowers and some statue as you see in TOMB RAIDER.

Eventually, this birthday bash also attracted a lot of foreigners into our isles and even generated a lot of Per capita during the 5 days of Enjoyment.


*I’m not supporting this act, I’m just trying to be clear – You can’t accept to do something and tell someone else also not to do the same thing. Nor this mean that I'm not a religious person, I'm also very religious - But I dont want to percieve things like as how it is happening - You Let one sin take place whereas you discard the next sin with a lot of choas.

A company or Accompany to Watch a Movie

Yesterday we went for a cup of coffee after office and there I put a desire that I'm not able to go to cinemas down here and watch movies as most of my friends hate watching them on big screen. In India I was used to this and it was hardly that I go down a video rental and get on to watch at home. Almost every good movie, I make sure that I watch them first day first show with my gang of Indian friends. But in here everythin is so lagged, good films come so late and when it comes there is no one to accompany or give company to me. It was so boring and hence out of topic I just put this forward to my office mate during our sip of coffee in BURGER MATE and to my surprise, she also raised the samething and sighted her unhappiness as she couldnt make it to watch "Khabhi Alvida Na Kehna", "Don" etc (looks like a SRK fan to me). I normally throw myself into theater here with my cousin cause we both are bored, but recently she also got busy in her schedule (damn shes in her teens, so quite evident that she would have other obligations hehehe).

I was full of smiles filling almost all my words with it coz someone is gonna make it out with me to watch the same movie, in the same place and at the same time (theatre). But today when I came to office, I just realised how hectic our schedule for the upcoming EU mission planned for Kaafu, Raa, Baa And Lhaviyani Atoll is. She is more importantly ready to accompany me, but then the departure from here is early morning 6:00 tommorow and its a good ride on the sea for the next five days with the EU evaluator. Hence our mission is cancelled to accompany some crap persons mission, I'm sidelined again by myself .........

Can Someone accompany me? or gimme company? someone with a better luck ;)

Prejudice thoughts

Well I was toying around with a subject “Why do guys/girls ignore people with prejudices/biased thoughts of selfish/prestigious needs of there?” But before I started to blog on this subject, I happen to visit www.mvblogs.org and zoomed into this nice article http://balaabodu.blogspot.com/2007/03/want-girl-friend-from-male.html on the same subject as mine. 90% of his views are exactly as mine but a 10% of individual difference arises. But I must say a good article down the lane.

I will just pickup his points:

1) Phone: Well even if you don’t want to call your love, once you are in the affair it will be an up and down process. Now even if you don’t call the other party might give a call. I have even seen girls of this present generation coming up and calling there boyfriend and even sending them money for them to call. As one of the comment on the publisher’s blog, “It’s GENERALIZING”. In that context the publisher of the article might be right, but in this generation, girls doesn’t hasten to come up with there heart open out to express.
2) Gift: Everyone want to be loved by means of gifts and surprise, what would be an relationship without some sweet surprises and some sweet token of ongoing relationship? Girls want these sweet tokens to know how much they are loved by there beloved and the same is with guys. Guys acts tough and say that they don’t want any gifts or surprise, but the fact is that if a girl gifts something, they accept it with more love and if it’s an surprise – the love will increase more from that point of life. But doesn’t mean that each and everyday or each and every week, that would make both the parties BORED. But you should always know when and where to do it. So if you keep buying gifts then the other person would be bored or many surprises? Then they won’t be xpecting anything new I guess.
3) Vehicle: That was a good point that’s been raised by the publisher of the article, I agree to the core with him on this belief. First thing a girl now asks is “Come and pick me?” “Oh you got no cycle? Well I will don’t bother – we can have a coffee sometimes later.” But if I am right, even the guys search for a girl with high value, in money and looks. So what’s the big deal if they also search so? “Again Generalization”. For a romantic life, riding a cycle on the cold night hugging onto each other in the middle of the night with moon following you is everyone’s dream. When a guy walk with his girlfriend, he would imagine – “AH What if I have a cycle? I could have had a romantic ride with her”. But I hate the fact that girls overlook a guy’s proposal just because he doesn’t have a cycle/car.
4) Money: Well that’s something really important for a life to exists, now if you ask me whether beggars doesn’t fall in love then you can see that the future is not bright. What I meant to say by here is that, money is really needed for someone to live and if he doesn’t have money, then how is he gonna look after his beloved and his children (in future)? But the saying that, behind every successful man is a women, to make this more true – a girl should accept a failed/failure guy. At least to give hopes, encourage and bring life into the lifeless soul.

Everyone in this world is trying to live happily and more importantly competing with each other to start and live a happy life and in logical thinking, nothing is possible in this present world without MONEY. MONEY TALKS

But true to in depth core is that money can’t buy everything, someone’s trust, someone’s love and someone’s happiness.

Developing Male' or Maldives?

SEVEN pictures merged to make one picture of the upcomming Maldives with the construction boom at it's most peak level. A man who got a small plot can just raise it up into the sky with just one room embedded with a kitchen and a toilet, still it can be rented out ONLY for more than 400USD. I guess I need to take some pics after 20:00Hrs in Male' main road and let everyone get a glimpse of the stampede that goes on the shopping road every night and special on weekeneds. Sometimes I wonder, what if something dreadful happen to male'? A calamity hit Male'? a Storm surge? A cyclone? a Quake? and always I come to the conclusion of STONE AGE.

Since I just posted these stuffs above, something that keeps me always wondering is why doesnt Maldivies impliment "INCOME TAX" policy as the rest of the developing nations? If the things as it is now goes - then it would be -

- RICH GETTING MORE RICHER AND POOR GETTIN MORE POORER! -

Income tax can be charged from individuals who earn a certain amount of money more than actually needed to and then it can vary from individual to individual. Someone who earns more than 1000USD a month can pay an amount of 5% of the amount as income tax and person who earn 800USD can pay 1.5% and like that.

Is it bad to call or give gifts or spend more time with ya beloved?

Question: Why does all the guys/girls say or ask

Why are you calling her/him everyday?
Why are you spending on him/her so often?
Why are you guys always on the phone?
Why are you guys meeting each other so often?

The people who ask these questions are in short doing that, but they never know it. Example is sited below

- Last week I encountered with this incident –
My cousin was leaving to Addu before his departure to Germany for a Butler course, he asked me whether I have anything to send to my girlfriend and I just handed him over a silver necklass which I bought from Singapore duty free. He just looked at me and said - “Jinan you don’t buy a lot of things for her right? Btw is this your valentine gift for her?”
Replied: “Nopes, just saw that during my short window shopping and bought it since I liked the carving and design and it just twinkled me that it would look amazing on her”
Sometimes later in the day he told me that during his affair time, he use to give a perfume bottle to his wife every month and if she was in Addu he made sure that he send it to Addu, but he has never spend a month without sending the token of love….

…...Here comes the interesting part …...

This guy told me months back when he was single and when I bought a gift for my girlfriend on her B’day he was just creating a big scene with my brother saying why I’m wasting my money on all this things. But now when the truth came in – he was much ahead of me when it comes for spending cause he told me that all the perfumes where above 700MRF and his wife also told me that yah he did and its still now in her room shelf.

….. Things to wonder…..

Every single individual does the same thing but never expect his friend/relative/siblings to do it? But why? Why is this mentality developed in human beings? Why does they feel that we shouldn’t do it while they also did the same thing?

They have given gifts to there loved ones and they still give, they call there loved ones every now and then, they meet there loved ones every single second in which they can make it. But still they go to the extent of asking another person not to do it by stating things making themselves proud…
You know when I was in an affair I didn’t give so much of things to ma gf, I didn’t call her so often nor I went to meet her… But they do….

I don’t know what propels individual to get into these things but I have noticed that this has been happening around all the time and most of the time. Its either to save there prestigious ego setup or just to make themselves sound COOL.

Note: For the critics, I'm writin this 'yes because I'm facing this most of the time' and this is something that really turns me upset cause it goes as 'You do things but dont let others do the samething'. People who give advice should practice it also - what would happen if you buy a valentine card and ask the other person not to buy a valentine card? What would happen if on one hand you finished your call for your beloved and ask the other person not to be on phone for so long?

Dude's Just be Yourself - The world never stops to give you a second chance to redo it all over again. Judge things yourself and do things which you feel is good and apt to do. Doesnt mean to do bad things in here.

Mobile Vs CashCard Vs Valentine Vs ATM

In Philippines I tried my memory luck by tryin to enter ma pin correct but I failed and it was pushed out "YOU FAILED YOURSELF".
Back in Maldives I tried my Cash Card with a ATM Amchine and they just sucked it in saying "Three Trials OVER, please visit the Tree and ask a sweety for your card"

STORY: One day - Com'on it just another day I went to the ATM centre to check ma balance and I saw a man standing near the Machine with his grocery bags (Agora bags). All of a sudden he came inbetween me and the machine and said, " Ey madukolabala - mage card ve etharuge" (wait, my card is inside). I asked him what happened? He told me that "oh nothing much he just forgot his pin and entered it wrong so the machine said wrong pin and now I'm waiting for the card to come out."

Worst part of this Card Pin Entry Saga is - My Phone is disconnected and I can't pay my phone bill and as said by Newton bro- "Every Action has an equal and opposite Reaction", how will the valentine girls call me or sms and ask me out? Damn I'm gonna miss it and one way its good. If anyone ask me Eh! who was your valentine or why u didnt get a Valentine? the Answer would be well I just switched off my mobile coz of the demand.

Neither do I believe that I can show her how much I love her on this day? If this day is to show how much you love your beloved, then what about your anniversaries date? For a true lover everyday is like that and every single moment is like that. Aaaaw first impression – Girls, girls and girls everywhere and I was wondering for the whole day till my wondering mind was answered by the facilitator that “In Philippines the population of women is more than the man”. It goes like 1 guy for 3 girls and how lucky that one guy would be.

Had a lot of traveling in and around Philippines from Manila to Cavite (silang) to Los Banos (university and Laguna) to Cebu (lapu lapu) to Tagatey where I saw a beautiful enchanting active volcano right in the middle of the lake (also known as Taal Lake).

Something that touched my heart the most was the way the Filipino go in between people – with at most respect they just bow down and bring one hand infront and walk there path off without disturbing us in any means.

Filipino food is sweet and sweet and rice is there three time essentiality whether its breakfast or lunch or dinner – Rice always played the role of a must to go with the meal. Chicken or beef or any meat it was always sweet and its hard that you will find a spicy food in Philippines.

Kenny Rogers or McDonalds or KFC or PizzaHut or Maxis or Jollibees or name any brand you have that in the famous malls of Philippines and the most known and well established brand of malls are SM and Robinsons found in everywhere. SM mall Asia also got an IMAX theater and the best and amusing part is that all these world famous food chains are so much in this country that where ever you go, you would find them – even in the petrol pump stations. But more importantly everything served from here is sweet. Malls are suppose to be closed at 9pm and all the night shopping comes to a stand still by 9pm and then starts the night life of music, bar and girls.

Oh forgot to mention what and why I was doing there, I went there for a study tour sponsored by UNDP Maldives with 11 participants from different corners of Maldives all engaged in Agriculture and 3 from UNDP Maldives (including me). It was called “International Discovery learning programe on Agriculture and organizational building for Island development in Maldives.” Organized by International Institute of Rural Reconstruction, Philippines.

Wonderful 11 days of fun and a lot of learning was what we did there and experiencing many more things (oh la la). And not to mention found another mommy (facilitator - Emily) and deedee (Dulsai) and Mr jeetey... it was a ride filled with excitment and fun and enjoyment.

Damn!!I should be glad that I was able to take advantage during ma school/university days. I feel so happy that I Njoyed every dip and sip of my life. Bunking class and going to see those fluffy movies & Yah going to different places in the name of exhibition or Interims – Oh La la!!!! It was all the fun part.A few tips on how I did ma part of escape:

MOVIES
Dad calls in the middle of the most dramatic scene and I never pick the call (You should never pick that call) while I’m busy watching a movie with popcorns right under ma lips smacking with its salty yet corny taste. But I always make sure that I call him right during the intermission/interval/break and before I call him- I search the noisiest end (Theatre Canteen) and call my dad from the middle of the movie buffs and tell him "Dad I was in class, what happened? - I just got my break" (Make sure you bring in ya tired and serious state of voice). With all the noise around he might trust you or might at least feel "ah my boy is somewhere near the books". Yep I am near and it’s in ma bag which I never forget to leave ;).

Pocket Money?
Another major problem among the daring devils who doesn’t have the privilege enough to get pocket money but somehow has to have it so as to enjoy the bit of fun. Here is how I do it?Ask dad money for money to buy a few handy heavy hefty books, get the money and go out to buy it. But always remember to take measures right before you make your first step out - make sure that you already took money for the books that you have bought and is kept untouched from the hysterical intelligence that you possess. Make sure the books are out of the house before you get the money or before you go to buy them. Most of the university books are expensive and yah now just go out and bring the same book back into the house. Now it applies if ya parents don’t ask you for the bill or check which book you bought. Well in that arena I really had a cool dad who never asked me how much it was or for the bills (that’s if it was related to my study materials)

Trips/Tours/Hangouts
Its time for another study tour from your university to some nearby or far place depending on ya income ;). It can be either wise a tour to an industrial city to give yourself a boast of some experience on the concerned field of ya degree or course and it can also be visiting a branch of ya university based in another city. I had to go to many branches of the university where I was studying for many reasons which ever popped out of my earth during the justification ceremony of where and when and why I’m going?. Damn such a long journey it was ;)

Enjoyment
Well the best way to enjoy the life during these days or even later (as per ma view) is Free

Free from Sex (no deals with pimps – Play it safe always)
Free from Drugs (Another way to experience hell within side)
Free from Smoking (Advised not to smoke coz it harms others more)
Free from Drinking (You might end up doing anything which is not pleasant enuff)
